How it started

Pat Klemba is a full-time firefighter and paramedic, and has been for close to 10 years. For a long time he was the friend people called when furniture needed moving out or a pile of junk needed to go somewhere. He'd show up and lend a hand.

At some point the idea was obvious: make it a business. On Scene Debris & Junk Removal became official this year, working out of Seminole.

What the fire service taught him

The job that comes first for Pat takes a certain kind of character, and he runs On Scene with the same one.

In practice that means a free estimate before anything moves, a clean spot where the pile used to be, and full responsibility if something gets damaged. On Scene is insured, and if something goes wrong, we make it right.

Working at your pace

Not every job is one big haul. Sometimes the homeowner is doing the work, cutting and stacking a little at a time, and just needs someone to take each pile away when it's ready.

Jobs like that are some of the ones Pat is proudest of. Stack it when you're ready, text a photo, and we'll come back for the next load.

Who On Scene is for

Flippers, contractors and landlords, for sure. But the customer Pat talks about first is the one without a truck.

“It could be a single mom that just needs an extra set of hands, or the elderly, or just the average person that doesn't have the means to remove this stuff.”

Where it's going

The long-term goal is to be the company Pinellas County calls first for junk removal. It starts at home, in Seminole.
